The educator resource I chose to review is the website Edsitement (https://edsitement.neh.gov/subject/history-social-studies). I chose this website, because it felt very user friendly. This website is designed for kindergarten through high school students. User could choose either K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 grade levels, or more than one. Under each grade level, included numerous lesson plans to choose from. I chose grade level range 3-5. Numerous lesson plans populated covering several social studies disciplines, such as history, government, and geography. Included in these lesson plans are several options to choose from, such as readings, questions, maps, sources, and much more. After reviewing the website, I feel that the purpose†¦show more content†¦For example, under Third Grade, Standard 1. History, Concept 2. states, â€Å"People in the past influence the development and interaction of different communities or regions (2009).† After looking at the evidence outcomes for this concept, I realized that the website, did address outcome c, because there were seral lesson plans that went over people, events, and developments that brought important changes to a community or region. Some of these people are Martin Luther King Jr. Davy Crocket, Thomas Edison, and Abraham Lincoln. Another standard this website covers are for Fifth Grade, Standard 1. Concept 1., which states â€Å"Analyze historical sources from multiple points of view to develop an understanding of historical context.† I feel some of these lesson plans fall under evidence outcomes a., b., c., and d., because there are lesson plans on important historical documents, such a s the Declaration of Independence and the Preamble to the Constitution, which are also lesson plans that pertain to the timeline of North America I believe this website provides teachers with numerous lesson plans that can be utilized as a great resource to engage students and stimulate critical thinking. One reason is because each lesson plan provides a list of guided questions that evokes critical thinking. Also many of the available lessons provides activities, media resources, and extension activities to help engage students.
